Keys Level

On this level, there isn't just one key to get to free Papa—there are six, and they must be pushed up the chains and locked in at the top.

Like the Rivets Level on Donkey Kong, this is the only level on DK Junior where the objective isn't overturned. When you rescue Papa, you actually rescue him! Until the next screen...

In addition to the steel traps, large birds fly back and forth across the screen, dropping lower with each pass. The fruit is there, and there are lots of targets to drop the fruit on—this level can get crazy with bad guys everywhere.

As Junior can climb faster holding on to two vines, he can move two keys faster this way. This is difficult with all the air traffic and traps on the vines. With every key locked into place, part of Papa's cage—and the cables holding him there—vanish.

It can get insane! Here, Junior was pushing two keys but had to drop back suddenly to avoid getting hit by the bird—and now he's in the path of a red steel trap coming up the vine at him.

The last key. Junior can still push it up faster holding on to two vines.

Just in time, as a red trap is about to munch him, Junior locks the final key in. Papa is free!

The supports and chains vanish.

Papa and Mario fall.

Mario is ass over bandbox on the ground, but proud Junior has caught a very pleased Papa.

As Junior and Papa run off the screen, Mario recovers and gives chase, intent on recovering his prisoner...

...but Donkey Kong shows Mario what he thinks about the whole deal, giving him a big hairy foot up his overalls-covered Italian butt.
