The Man. The Legend. The Scale-Tipper |
Few rock and rollers
can transcend generations, avoid falling into the "pop music" trap, and
combine classic rock and roll with rock opera and powerhouse lyrics quite
like Meat Loaf. Since the historic release of Bat Out of Hell in
1977, Meat Loaf has shown little sign of letting up. Although the breaks
in between releases are often painfully long, each new album is always
exciting and original, without departing from Meat Loaf's style and
appeal. There are scores of Meat Loaf
fan sites out there, so one wonders why I would bother with another one.
The answer, of course, is just because I can. Always wanted to. So here it
is. I'm trying to achieve a number of goals here:
- Images of all the albums (admittedly,
you can find these pretty much everywhere)
- Lyrics to all the songs (there never
seems to be one Meat Loaf site with all of them)
- MIDI files of all the songs (if you have
MIDI of his songs, please email me!)
- MP3 samples of the songs (relax, no
pirating; fair use in play here. I want to eventually get brief snippets
of the songs, in low-quality format, for reference only--sort of like
the brief pieces you hear on music-for-sale Web sites)
- Trivia about Meat Loaf and
Jim Steinman
(there's plenty of it out there; just want to group it all in one place)
- Anything else that strikes me as
interesting
Hopefully, visitors will get something out
of this, too.

Contact Me |
Contact me
if you have
anything to add, suggestions, ideas, comments, etc. My email-linked name
appears at the bottom of every page.
However, if you plan to email me to tell me how Meat Loaf sucks and is too
fat, and his music is cheesy and old-styled, and how Type O Negative and
Korn are REAL musicians, and how you could write and sing and play better
than Meat Loaf... save your fingers from all that typing. I don't care.
This is for Meat Loaf FANS, and we aren't going to be converted because of
a few nasty emails.
And, chances are, if you have the mentality to consider writing an email
like that, you're probably young enough to have been in diapers AFTER
Bat Out of Hell was first released... in which case we REALLY don't
care about your 90's view on music.
So if
you're a Meat Loaf fan and there's something you'd like to see on this
site, let me know about it and I'll see what I can do. I'd also appreciate
any contributions you may have, be it pictures or artwork, MIDIs or sound
clips, personal stories regarding Meat, or whatever (but please email me
BEFORE you send stuff). Hell, if you have
Meat Loaf memorabilia you want to get rid of, don't let me stop you from
dropping it in the mail! :-)

Blender Magazine Says Meat Loaf's Song One of 50 Worst EVER! |

In Blender Magazine's May 2004 issue,
in an article titled "Run For Your Life! It's The 40 Worst Songs Ever!"
Meat Loaf's "I'd Do Anything For
Love (But I Won't Do That)" is on the list.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but
this mindless team of "writers" have interesting reasons behind the
criticism of most of their songs (but hey, this is a magazine that proudly
features Courtney Love on the cover, so we don't expect too much). Sure,
the writers are possessed of prepubescent ideals, but I couldn't help but
email the editor on this one. Read that
email here. |
