VH1 does a bit where they get
a musician or group live before a small audience. Popular songs are
introduced by the singer/group, and the stories behind the songs are
related. It wasn't long after I had a great time watching VH1 do their
Storytellers bit on Meat Loaf that it was released on CD, and I grabbed it
up. The live performances, as
well as the introductory stories told by Meat Loaf, are all here. For the
true Meat Loaf historian, his tales are full of wonderful tidbits. For
instance, I had no idea "Paradise" was originally 27 minutes long, and
that when Todd Rundgren cut it down to under nine minutes, Meat and
Steinman thought he'd ruined it. |
