7 steps to writing a story and getting it published
- Write it! The obvious first step.
- Proofread it! Often not obvious, but should be. Even
the best writers should meticulously proof their work.
- Match
it! Find the right markets to which you can
submit it. The wrong market wastes your time and theirs.
- Format it! Often overlooked, ensure that your story
follows proper manuscript guidelines, and any particular preferences of the
editor/publisher.
- Introduce it! Write a query letter that works.
- Send it! Ship it off, but do it right.
- Monitor it! Keep track of what's happening.
